For Motor Home aplcation there is the purpose built Combitronic
Other Heating solutions: If fitting roof top (mains operated) air conditioning some models feature a heat pump that can allow the air conditioning to act as a heater (see air conditioning section).
Eberspächer air heaters are independent both of the engine and of the vehicle's own heat balance.
They draw in cool room or outside air, heat this up and then deliver it to the interior of the vehicle.
Air heaters are an excellent solution for mobile applications of every type. They can be installed just as well in the cab as in the luggage compartment or under the floor.
Practical controls - such as a digital Eberspächer timer or an innovative Eberspächer radio remote control - make your comfort perfect.
Eberspächer water heaters work independently of the engine and thus offer a double plus: pre-heating the vehicle's passenger compartment and engine.
The heaters are integrated in the cooling water system of the engine. The thermal energy gained is absorbed by the vehicle's own heat exchanger and distributed finely dosed into the interior as warm air through existing air vents. The engine is warmed up with the residual heat in the cooling water. And in summer you can easily enjoy pre-cooling with an Eberspächer Hydronic.

How an Eberspächer AIRTRONIC air heater works
As soon as the heater receives its starting pulse, the following processes are triggered by the central control unit:
Automatic safety check.
- The burner motor starts, the combustion space in pre-ventilated, the glow plug is warmed up, the metering pump conveys fuel.
- The glow plug ignites the fuel-air mixture, the flame is formed.
- The hot combustion gases flow through the heat exchanger.
- The hot air fan draws in room air or fresh air.
- The heat of the combustion gases is transferred by the heat exchanger to this hot air.

How an Eberspächer HYDRONIC water heater works
As soon as the heater receives its starting pulse, the following processes are triggered by the central control unit:
Automatic safety check.
- The glow plug is warmed up
- The metering pump conveys fuel
- The burner motor starts smoothly
- The fan delivers combustion air
- Fuel-air mixture ignites (flame formation)
- The hot combustion gases flow through the heat exchanger that delivers the heat to the coolant system of the vehicle's engine.
- The heater is controlled electronically and works - according to heat requirement - in several power stages

Mains Heating System for use with the
Airtronic D2 / D4
Customers are now able to add an advanced mains heating capability to their conventional Air heating systems. Typical applications include Motorhomes and Marine, where a 230 volt mains "hook-up" facility is available. The unit is extremely light and compact and fully compatible with both the Airtronic D2 and D4 range of diesel heaters.
The Airlectric can be purchased and installed through the Eberspächer dealer network.
Features and Benefits

Compact size (265 x 158 x 120mm).

Unlike other electric heating systems, the unit uses a low mass heating element to provide the quickest possible warm-up time. This technology also reduces weight (The 75mm version weighs in at only 1.6kg).

An automatic mode is available as an option, which will switch seamlessly from diesel to electric heating and back again as and when mains power is available.

The system has been designed to allow fitting as a retrofit option to existing D2 and D4 12v installations, so that customers can enjoy the benefits of electric heating now.

The integrated electronic control permits operation from the existing Airtronic modulator control for simplicity in operation.

Airlectric is an intelligent system utilizing the Airtronic blower motor, and more than one unit can be incorporated into larger installations. These can communicate with each other to provide heat where needed without activating current trips. No other system can do this.

The heaters can be linked to a managed control system, which is capable of momentarily switching off the heating whilst other mains loads (e.g. a kettle) are being used.
